Choose the right workflow

Photo filter or image generator?

Use a filter when you want a recognizable photo in a selected art style. Use image generation when you need a written brief, a new scene or a composition built around references.

You choose your own source and review the current cost before generation.

Choose the smallest useful change

Keep the intended change narrow for the first attempt. A long brief asking for new clothes, lighting, pose and background makes it harder to diagnose a weak result.

IN PRACTICE

Work through a practical example

01

Have these ready

Decide whether you want to reinterpret an existing photo or invent a new composition. Keep the subject and final use in one sentence.

02

Make the first version

Use a filter when choosing a medium is the main decision. Use the image generator when you need to describe objects, setting and layout in detail. Test one representative image and compare retained cues, not only the amount of visual change.

03

Choose the next move

A familiar face does not require a completely new scene. A new editorial concept may need more than a style label. Match the tool to the missing instruction.

Try this before committing

Use a filter when a recognizable photograph is the anchor of the work. Use the generator when the scene itself needs a new brief. Try one output first; changing the whole scene may be unnecessary when only the visual style needs to change.

Questions for this project

Can both tools preserve the original exactly?

A generated interpretation can redraw features in either route. Review the result against the source and keep the original available. Use a non-generative operation when the requirement is an exact crop, color conversion or unchanged factual record.
