Expand the composition

Add space beside a portrait for a banner

Place the person toward one side and expand the opposite side. A quiet background area gives the headline room without shrinking the face to an unhelpful size.

You choose your own source and review the current cost before generation.

Plan the finished piece

Add text in a layout editor after expansion. Keep the headline clear of hair and shoulders and preview the mobile crop.

Try this before committing

Write the actual headline in the layout first. Leave a calm area large enough for its longest line, plus breathing room around it. If the image and headline compete, simplify the added background instead of shrinking the text.

IN PRACTICE

Work through a practical example

01

Have these ready

Write the real headline and button text first. Put them in a rough banner to identify which side needs space.

02

Make the first version

Keep the portrait on the side opposite the text and extend that text side in the canvas. Once generated, overlay the actual copy in your design editor. Check that new background lines, objects or bright patches do not pull attention away from the words.

03

Choose the next move

Use expansion when the existing face and pose work. If the gaze points outside the banner or conflicts with the design, another source may be a better starting point.

02

Look closely at the examples

Questions for this project

Should the generator add the headline too?

Keep expansion focused on space. Add final text as editable type afterward so spelling, contrast and responsive placement remain controllable. A banner background and a complete web layout are different deliverables.
